Claudia De la Cruz was born in the South Bronx to immigrant parents from the Dominican Republic. She is a popular educator, community organizer and theologian. Claudia is currently, Executive Director at The People’s Forum. For over 20 years, she has been committed to movement building, and has actively worked with grassroots movements and political collectives in the US, and Latin America.
Lewis R. Gordon is Professor of Philosophy at UCONN-Storrs; Honorary President of the Global Center for Advanced Studies; and Honorary Professor in the Unit for the Humanities at Rhodes University, South Africa. Khadija Bawa is a researcher at the Social Justice Coalition, a grassroots organisation that mobilizes to call for safe, healthy and dignified communities in Khayelitsha and other informal settlements across the country. She completed her undergraduate degree in BA Law at the University of Stellenbosch. She completed her Philosophy Honours with a special focus on feminist theory and the law, also at Stellenbosch University. She is currently a Master’s candidate focusing on policing and sexual violence in South Africa. She is a frequent opinion writer at the Daily Maverick, Voices 360 and other South African publications.
