Narrated by Lauryn Hill, Concerning Violence is a bold and fresh visual narrative on Africa, based on archive material covering the struggle for liberation from colonial rule in the late ‘60s and ‘70s.

Poetry

Formerly known as The Common Man, Motho Fela is a revolutionary poet whose foundation was laid in the hip hop culture. Since the dawn of democracy, he has shared his poetry in churches, prisons, clubs, streets, TV and international conferences. He’s also a film/TV producer whose credits include being a creative consultant and producer of documentaries such as A Blues for Tiro and Word Down The Line.

Gitca Mbira Group

The mbira player Bezil Makombe has played with Thomas Mapfumo and the late Collins Chabane, and now leads his own band, Gitca Mbira Group. The group has Makombe and Derrick Chijiri on mbira, Edwin Mapfinya on congas, Hilda Katena and Monalisa Wilsher on backing vocals and Shirley Wurarayi (aka Gushungu) on lead vocals.
